Club expert makes claim about Ange Postecoglou’s future at the club after recent outburst

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou expressed his frustration following their 2-0 defeat to Manchester City earlier this week.

The match was critical, not only as a potential title decider but also in the race for a top-four finish.

Spurs needed a victory to stay in contention for Champions League qualification, while City needed a win to remain in the title hunt. A City loss would have handed the Premier League title to Spurs’ arch-rivals, Arsenal.

Postecoglou was left annoyed by the number of Tottenham fans seemingly rooting against their own team to prevent Arsenal from winning the title.

He voiced his annoyance post-match, describing the club as fragile from inside and outside and questioning the mentality of both the club and its supporters.

John Wenham says Ange is not going anywhere

Despite the defeat and Postecoglou’s comments, club expert John Wenham quickly dismissed any speculation about the manager’s happiness at Tottenham.

He claimed that while Postecoglou’s comments were unusual, they do not indicate any intention to leave the club.

Wenham further added that the stress of recent results likely contributed to the manager’s outburst.

John Wenham told Tottenham News:

“I understand Postecoglou wants to improve the levels at the club, but supporters are also well within their rights to support any outcome which stops Arsenal from winning the Premier League.”

“His comments were a little bit strange, but I don’t think they suggest he is unhappy or planning to leave the club anytime soon.

“Tottenham have lost five of their last six games, he is going to feel stressed, and the supporter must have said something annoying for him to turn around and retaliate.

“I’m not completely sure who his comments were about, I think it’s been left a bit open-ended, but hopefully we can move on from this with a win against Sheffield United.”

Tottenham are now out of the race for the Champions League next season and will be playing in the Europa League instead. Regardless, it was a decent first season under Ange, with a lot many positives to take from it. The club is surely going in the right direction, and if the Australian is given time and financial support, he may be the man to turn our fortunes around.
