Report: Tottenham are now in pole position to land Premier League midfielder

Tottenham continue to be strongly linked with Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Lilywhites have long been admirers of the Chelsea skipper, with their interest dating back to last summer, with the club even submitting a bid on deadline day in September of the previous year. Nevertheless, the deal failed to materialise.

It was expected that the club would actively pursue the Englishman during the winter transfer window, however, no offer was submitted, seemingly holding it out till the summer.

As per the latest report from Football Insider, Conor Gallagher’s contract talks with Chelsea have completely collapsed and Tottenham are now in pole position to land him.

However, they are not the only club interested in signing him. Newcastle have also shown strong interest in the English midfielder.

Nevertheless, Tottenham may hold an advantage in negotiations, as transfer insider Dean Jones recently indicated that Gallagher’s own preference is to remain in London. This preference could tilt the scales in Tottenham’s favour, despite previous concerns over his price tag.

As the summer transfer window draws nearer, all eyes will be on Gallagher’s next move. With both Tottenham and Newcastle vying for his signature, the race to secure the midfielder’s services promises to be an intriguing one.
